JEDDAH — Thunderstorms, flash floods, hail and dust-stirring winds are expected over parts of the Kingdom on Sunday, with temperatures reaching up to 49°C in some areas, according to the National Center for Meteorology (NCM). For the expected heatwave, Dammam is forecast to record the highest temperature at 49°C, followed by Riyadh and Buraidah at 47°C. Temperatures are expected to reach 45°C in Makkah, 43°C in Madinah, and 42°C in Jeddah. 14,542 violators of residency, labor and border security laws arrested in a week
RIYADH — Saudi security forces arrested a total of 14,542 illegal residents in a week. The arrests were made in joint inspections, carried out in collaboration with the relevant government agencies, during the period between Aug. 6 and Aug. 12, the Ministry of Interior announced on Saturday. Those who were arrested include 7,216 violators of the Residency Law, 3,843 violators of the Border Security Law, and 3,483 violators of the Labor Law. The total number of people who were arrested while trying to cross the border into the Kingdom accounted for 1,457, of whom 32 percent were Yemeni nationals, 67 percent Ethiopian nationals, and one percent belonged to other nationalities. About 19 people were arrested while attempting to leave the Kingdom illegally. A total of 12,945 illegal residents were deported while 18,818 violators were referred to their diplomatic missions to obtain travel documents and 6,355 violators were referred to complete their travel reservations. RIYADH — The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has approved the updated executive regulations for monitoring and compliance with water efficiency and conservation standards. The regulations authorize the National Water Efficiency and Conservation Center to investigate and address violations and apply the regulations across the urban, agricultural, and industrial sectors. The updated regulations will take effect on March 21, 2027. Using non-efficient sanitary fixtures constitutes a violation in the urban sector, with a fine of SR1,000 for the first offense, SR2,000 for the second, and SR10,000 for the third time offence. RIYADH — The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) forecasts that hot to very hot weather will persist in parts of Saudi Arabia from Sunday through next Wednesday. Heat wave is expected to affect the Eastern Province, as well as the eastern and southern parts of the Riyadh region, with maximum temperatures in the affected areas expected to range between 47 and 50 degrees Celsius. Multiple-entry Umrah pilgrims must fulfill service package requirements
JEDDAH — The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has instructed pilgrims holding multiple-entry visas to fully adhere to the regulations issued by it with regard to booking service packages with licensed Umrah service providers. The Ministry clarified through its X account that visa validity does not exempt pilgrims from booking other required services. Last July, the Ministry of Hajj announced the launch of the multiple-entry Umrah visa, which allows beneficiaries to enter the Kingdom multiple times during its 365-day validity period from the date of issuance, with a total stay of up to 90 days throughout the visa’s validity. The move aims to facilitate the pilgrim’s journey and provide greater flexibility in planning visits and performing Umrah. Customs foil attempt to smuggle 58.6 kg of meth hidden in shoes at Jeddah port
JEDDAH — Customs authorities have foiled an attempt to smuggle 58.6 kilograms of methamphetamine, locally known as shabu, concealed inside a shipment of men's shoes arriving through Jeddah Islamic Port.Hammoud Al-Harbi, spokesperson for the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA), said customs officers discovered the drugs after the shipment underwent customs procedures and was inspected using security technologies and detection methods.The methamphetamine was found concealed inside cavities in the shoes.Following the seizure, ZATCA coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to identify and arrest those due to receive the drugs in Saudi Arabia.
